Traditional ethics protects entities such as persons, animals, and perhaps works of art. Path Ethics shifts attention toward processes. What we perceive as a „thing“, such as a river, a tree, or an institution, is a stabilized process. A river consists in the continuous movement of water channelled through geological structures. A tree is an autopoietic system that sustains itself through photosynthesis, root growth, and cell division. Path Ethics therefore shifts the question from „What is it?“ to „How does it continue?“ Moral relevance lies in the structure of continuation.
